Social Emotional Learning

Upward Bound Social Emotional Learning (SEL) refers to the integration of social and emotional development within the Upward Bound program—a federally funded initiative that supports high school students from low-income families or first-generation college students in preparing for postsecondary education. The SEL component helps students build critical skills such as self-awareness, emotional regulation, social skills, empathy, and responsible decision-making. By fostering these abilities, Upward Bound SEL aims to enhance students’ academic performance, college readiness, and overall personal development.
