On Monday, February 13th, Upward Bound students visited Eastern Illinois University to tour the Communications Department. Students learned about the EIU TV station which is hosted by PBS. Upward Bound Scholars learned about the behind the scenes to news broadcasting and television productions. Students also leaned about the EIU radio station.
After the tour of the Communications Department, students met with TRIO Student Support Services students to hear their experiences of what is is like to be college students. Students also learned about organizations on campus to help them feel like the belong such as the fraternities and sororities of the Divine 9. They also received advice from Black students on what it is like attending a PWI and how to overcome challenges they may be faced with.
