Congratulations to our Upward Bound Class of 2023! The Kankakee Community College Upward Bound staff is so proud of all your accomplishments. “My name is Nesha and in the fall I’ll be attending Southern Illinois University School of Medicine to obtain my nurse practitioner license. For anyone starting out, one thing I’ll say is if you get ahead at the start of your high school career, regardless of whether or not anyone says it’s too early…you’ll get a lot farther. Advocate for yourself and make it happen even if you have to do it yourself! Get ahead!”

“I plan to attend Saint Mary’s College of Notre Dame, Indiana. I will be majoring in biology, while also in the pre-med program. Advice I would give to someone beginning high school would be to take things very seriously. Also, get things done and take advantage of every opportunity you’re able to get! Always remember to be a student first, and have fun later. You’re not missing anything. TIME MANAGEMENT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!”

"I will be attending Illinois State University and majoring in Physics Engineering. Some advice would give someone starting their high school career is don’t take life to seriously and work hard so you can take it easy later."

Advice I would give to someone who is entering high school would be to don’t stress over small things because Highschool isn’t going to last forever and colleges isn’t for everyone so don’t feel like you need to just because everyone around you is telling you to."
