On Monday, January 16, 2023, Upward Bound students attended a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. Students had the opportunity to sit in on one of five breakout sessions on Sustainability and Affirmative Action as it relates to postsecondary education. Students also took a tour of Valparaiso University's campus, participated in a mock "Walk on Washington," and listened to a speech given by Indiana State Senator Eddie Melton.
